toilet not flushing and just coming back into toilet

Hello good people,

on my fresh water electric toilet, when I flush I do not hear it going into the holding tank or overboard (when sufficiently offshore, of course) and eventually the water comes back into the toilet.

What is going on and how do I fix it?

Make sure that wasps (dirt daubers) haven't sealed off the vent. Try flushing with the discharge cap off. Lastly, the joker valve could be bad. Easy to replace.

What make and model toilet do you have?

And, the toilet inlet is plumbed to fresh water supply?? Do you have a check valve to keep potable water potable??
OR
Do you use the shower hose to supply the flush water (what many of us do when water supply is not limited)?
