Biocide in the diesel tank

I have been advised that I should consider using some biocide in the diesel tank on a regular basis to prevent a build up of baceria/sludge in the water that inevitably collects on the bottom of the tank due to condensation. Apparently this sludge will affect the fuel filters and could lead to engine failure at a critical time. The recommended product in Australia is called "Chemtech" or "Kemtech" and only a small amount should be used to de-activate the bacteria and emulsify the moisture which is expelled with the fuel - and at the same time cleaning the injectors. Does anyone have any experience of this. Any advice would be welcome.

I have been using biocide in my engines since 1995 on the advice of a good diesel mechanic and have never had a problem with my fuel since. Calgon#277.
