Harken Electric Winch 40.2 ST E Gear Drive

My 2004 #250 with the cabin top Harken 40.2 STE Electric Winch didn't spin when commissioning this week. I serviced the winch-which helps, but the gear drive is very loud without the winch connected. Opening the access panel- an oil spotted washcloth dropped out- clearly by the PO. Now looking for options to replace the gear drive - its a Bonfiglioli VF 49. Anyone have experienced with repair or replacement?
