C350 mast air draft
I have a 2005 C-350 with a furling main and am trying to determine the air draft. I've seen several numbers that represent the mast height from the deck step to the mast head(excluding antennas, windex, etc) and I've seen numbers that were supposedly the air draft from the waterline to the masthead, which is the one that's most important for bridge clearances. Several folks have written that the air draft is 48'. Any clarification will be much appreciated. Thanx,

Jim,
Don't have that info in front of me (we are in the process of moving), but I can promise you it is well more than 48'.
Tall enough that we have to go "outside" from Pensacola/Destin/Panama City/Port St Joe and without Billy the boat tipper who is no longer in business, can not do the Okeechobee Waterway.
Were I to "guess", I would say 53'.

Re: C350 mast air draft
Don't forget the VHF antenna!!!
My air draft is 54.5' tested with a twang from the antenna on the bottom of a bridge.
The fender boards at the bridge had the depth indicated at 54.5'.
that was a 10X pucker!!!

Re: C350 mast air draft
Suspect my "mast height above water line'" of 53' and your "twang the VHF antenna whip at 54.5" are pretty close to the same measurement.
Both well more than 48' that would allow one into a lot more cruising areas-- panhandle of Florida, Okeechobee Waterway, etc.
Heck, the Catalina 315 mast is 48' 3": https://www.catalinayachts.com/cruiser- ... alina-315/
Again, hopefully someone else will have the exact figure.

Re: C350 mast air draft
The C350 specs show a mast height of 52.5'. Add to that antennas, windex, anything your boat may have attached to the top of the mast. I use 55' as a working height.

Saw this tucked away on page two of this article: http://www.catalina350.com/technical/ar ... 0Aug04.pdf
Mast Height
Warren Pandy at the Catalina factory in Largo responded to my request for the mast height:
It is 52' or 52’-6" with the anchor light. If you include wind vanes, mast- head units for such and antennas then you are at 54’. -Warren

Re: C350 mast air draft
Many thanks to all that replied to my mast air draft question. Since like most of you I do have a VHF whip and Windex on the mast head so I will use 55' to play it safe. Thanx again, Jim
