I have been thinking about bringing my boat to Florida from Ohio. I checked into insurance and found that there is a wind exclussion in the policy. Is this common in Florida?

With some insurers it is. They exclude any damage from a "named storm". You can get "named strom" insurance but you'll find that the deductable might be 10%. Progressive offers this for one. Markel might be another. I'd also check with Boat US.
