I have a small Edson table at the helm that was never quite big enough when sat at anchor. The upgraded version with two additional folding leaves from Edson is approx $1,600, but I found this in Europe which was $330 including shipping to the USA .

I kept the original fittings (hinge, wire strut and locating plug) and with a bit of varnishing and drilling/mounting the new table is an improvement as the folding leaves add more table space and bring food closer to the crew when unfolded..

That looks like a nice find on a table. How is the table attached to the binnacle? We don't have a table on our boat but thought of adding one. What hardware would you use to attach one of these if the boat didn't already have existing hardware from a previous stock table?

I'm not at the boat for a few weeks so I cannot take a photo of the back of the table but here are some shots of the original smaller non folding top Edson table with the three points of contact:
1) There are two plates that have a long pin passed through them to form the top hinge (2nd and 3rd pic)
2) There is a rounded metal strut about 3mm in diameter shaped like a squared C (or maybe imagine a flat topped croquet hoop) attached to the table base that allows the two "arms" of that C shape as shown to fit into the support bracket of the pedestal (first pic) when the table is raised for use.
3) There is a small metal ball fitted to the table base that snaps into a small plastic doughnut at the foot of the pedestal to keep the table locked vertically against the pedestal when not in use (bottom of first pic).

I only put it down when clearing up and putting the canvas covers on the boat/helm, anytime I'm sailing I nearly always put the table up to horizontal for snacks etc, it's never in the way

Helmstock on their site mention a kit that you can buy along with the table which I'm sure provides the same/similar function.
