30 Amp Breakers

Post by ElizabethG »

Hi All,

I am the 3rd owner of my 2004 C350 which has AC. However, it only has one 30 amp shore power line feeding the AC and the other AC outlets, water heater, etc. I have to be careful how many AC components I have on, or I start popping breakers.

Most of the C350's I've seen have a seperate 30 amp shore power line for the AC.

I want to add that second dedicated AC 30 amp shore power line.

What I'm looking for is the 30 amp breaker. Catalina Direct has them for $212. https://www.catalinadirect.com/shop-by- ... ac-master/

Has anyone replaced, or installed, an equivalent AC 30 amp breaker with a less expensive breaker?

Thanks,

Bill

I added the extra plug and breaker at the start of this season to mine. I used this
https://www.catalinadirect.com/shop-by- ... r-breaker/
which appears to be on backorder now. Given the ridiculous price now, if I was going to have to build a panel anyway, I would probably use this https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Systems ... 2ILUO?th=1
and used the $180 difference to build one hell on a panel.

Hey Rob,

I really appreciate the info and the quick response!

The schematic that I have for the 2nd AC power line also shows adding a "zinc saver" / "galvanic isolator". Did you add that as well and, if so, what brand / model did you use?

Thanks,

I did replace the isolator, mostly because the factory one had a big red label that says "Not Approved for Marine use", but also because it is only rated at 30 Amps. I used this one,

Replaced the existing and ran both circuits through the ProSafe using the ProSafe diagram for dual circuits
