anchor rode size

Post by elk »

It's time to replace the anchor road on our boat. I'm trying to figure out If 9⁄16 nylon 3 strand and 5/16ths H4 chain is the right size? I have 20' of chain and 150' of nylon. Does that sound right?

Thanks,

I have to replace ours, too, due to the squirrel family that nested in the anchor locker over the winter. I'm interested to know what you choose.

I think 9/16” 3 strand nylon rode is fine for our boats. If your Maxwell windlass has the 108 chain wheel then you want 5/16” Grade 43 (G4) high-test chain.

You are correct Ken. G4 is what i meant. Amazon has one hand spliced with an anchor shackle for $323. The price seems fair.
