Re: Just a note of thanks to Gerry D and Catalina yachts re hull
oops, I forgot about the quano . I also lived in Puerto Rico where i was in High School and taught flying at the airport. There is a small island between PR and the Dominican Republic named Mona Island. I used to fly my boss (he owned the Flying School) who was a spear-fisher guy, land on the desert...

Coincidence? My last name is Bloomquist (should be Blomqvist) but my Swedish granddad "Americanized it" So, now you know that we Swede descendants have discriminating palates (ie, avoid "xxxxmites" at all costs").

Re: Just a note of thanks to Gerry D and Catalina yachts re hull
Mr. Peel is definitely a fantastic resource and I agree with his statement about Catalina boats quality my (2006, #411). I love mine... dave ps HOWEVER, be very careful when taking his advice.... I know that the Aussies are addicted to Vegemite spread. I think it eventually causes the eater to makin...

OOPs, I forgot to update my Oberdorfer replacement raw water pump. It worked fantastically!!! I see that the replacement impeller is $100 but, gosh, the temp never wavered +/- 3 degrees F regardless of the RPM. It did increase to 166, but that was when I was trying to stop the boat from plowing into...

Re: Fresh Water (Coolant) Impeller?
Thanks. I looked at Snead Marina and like what they say about quality. I will drive up there and talk to them about some work I need to have done.

Re: rigging the genoa car
yes GARHAUER E Z GLIDE with the optional cam. I contacted them in Australia and they sent me some info, but kinda generic. The question is the little metal loop at the end of the of the cam. Does the line go under or thru that?
I added a photo showing the loop.
thanks

rigging the genoa car
I think (no, i HAVE) screwed up replacing the genoa control lines to my cars' rail hardware setup. Why? because when I try to re-position the clew forward or aft, instead the main sheet traveler instead moves. (ok it is not as bad as that, but still I can't remember how it was originally rigged - I ...

Re: Fresh Water (Coolant) Impeller?
funny you should mention that. I replaced the hose leading to the water pump and upon refilling the fluid, I was down below with the thermostat bleed valve open as the engine was started. It spit air and then fluid..I waited and then closed the valve. I watched the engine temp and it increased to 16...

Re: Fresh Water (Coolant) Impeller?
Great. The marine hardware prices are the same as aviation prices - way way over a reasonable markup. I will report to the troops once I get the tractor parts and check that the impeller is the same diameter as the one on the engine. THANKS TO ALL dave just curious. since a tractor uses a radiator a...

Re: Fresh Water (Coolant) Impeller?
THANKS to G&J and "Cheers" (interesting person"s name...). Anyway, ordered the $50 from Amazon and the $80 from Kumar Bros.... Can't believe that Catalina Direct and Toad Marine both offer it for $500. Maybe those are bronze but gosh, I would rather replace them more often. Will r...

Re: Fresh Water pump replacement?
After yet another Venice to the Dry Tortugas and back (I left with my sailing buddy, but ALMOST came back alone....accidents can happen.....) Anyway, when there was not wind, I started hearing a rasping sound from the water pump. It continued to get louder as time went on. Made it back but want to r...

Re: Bilge shower Pump System
Is there a index listing for "Boat Owners ready to commit suicide"? Leaving for the Dry Tortugas and just checked to see if the shower drain pump was working. It runs but it doesn't drain. Water comes out of the housing. The thru hull valve is open. But where does the little piece of white...

Circuit Breakers
Sigh... Both my steaming and deck lights are out. I went up and no voltage. Next I check across the circuit breakers. In general when a breaker is off, the delta V is 12-13 volts. As soon as it is switched on, the voltage drops to zero. (seems reasonable since there is no "shut door" now t...

Re: where to store the main sheet halyard line
Oh. oops, Ken please do NOT cancel my membership just because I am an idiot!!!!! The main halyard is for my FURLING SAIL (sorry). It was coiled and hanging (dangling) on the mast cleat when I bought the boat. I will take a pic of the opening to show where it is. However, I THINK it is some type of a...

where to store the main sheet hauler line
Hi. I have typically hung my main's line around the cleat on the mast. However, I noticed a rounded rectangle opening below the cleat that appears to be an opening for nothing? (sorry, maybe wasps). Is that to store the excess line after raising the sail? But now looking at Selden mast images, maybe...

Re: Oberdorfer N202M-837 will pump cooling water but not A/F
Thanks. I didn't notice the A/F in the subject line. Have no idea what it stands for, maybe at full throttle? That is what CatalinaDirect said might happen. I saw another response that mentioned something about a Flush kit. Maybe that is the "F"?

Re: Oberdorfer N202M-837 cooling issue?
I have had it with Sherwood (in fact even Robin Hood says he is leaving the forest). Question looking at the one above, CatalinaDirect says it might cause the engine to run hot at hull speed temps. Has anyone seen this? Does the 350 gang agree on this make and model as a replacement.

Re: connecting an inverter with 3 batteries
Excellent. I too charge all three batteries at the same time with the one switch (on the left) to both and the right on (engine power) on. My solar controller has a secondary output to charge another battery and that is my emergency starter battery..,
Thanks.
dave
Thanks.
