Re: Headliner discolration

Hi, I am the original owner of a 2005 and the discoloration started after about two years. Catalina never responded to my questions to resolve the problem so I have been cleaning the areas with acetone which works well but do occasionally come back. If you notice most areas are also sticky. I assume...

Re: Fuel lift pump

I removed and reinstalled my pump twice for rebuilds and never needed to prime for a start. Initially the pump was leaking fuel into the crank case. Unfortunately the company that did the first rebuild did not test the unit before they returned it and it still leaked.

Boarding plank

Even with our convenient walk through transom a little plank comes in handy. The bungee cords hold it in place well and the cross board can be secured to the dock cleats.

Re: Port gaskets

Mike, I resolved my port leaks by sealing the outer lower frame gap with clear Silicone. Three of the frames had a gap of approximately 3/32. I had initially thought the problem was the seal so I did a little research and Go2marine found Lemar P/N 478107 is a good replacement for the portlight seals...

Re: Holding Tank Vent

You will be surprised at how deposits build up even in the vent hose so I replaced the hose and removed the external vent for cleaning. It's a pretty tight area above the head, if you replace the hoses save yourself some frustration and use a heat gun to install the new hoses.

Re: fresh water pump leak

Elk,

I would like to reinforce the suggestion to change the pump. I encountered the same problem and procrastinated on changing out the pump. The result was minor water entering the oil causing rust and broken springs on the fuel injector pump ...... a runaway diesel is a scary situation.

Re: backing up

Dave, I have been backing stern-to on my dock for the last 3 years and have prettty much mastered the approach. The prop walk is pretty evident when I power forward just before contacting the dock. Also when leaving in reverse be sure to power up pretty good to get the boat moving for stearage. Comp...

Bob, i had the identical problem and sent my computer back to Raymarine for a bench check. They could not duplicate the problem but according to the technician they replaced a couple of capacitors in the board. I reinstalled the unit about 10 months ago and have not had a problem since. However, a w...

FRESH WATER IN THE BILGE

I have had the same problem since I bought the boat but could never figure out where the water was coming from until last night when my bilge started filling up so fast i thought I the boat was sinking. If you want to call it luck, the hose came loose from my water heater and started pumping out my ...

Mast Step

I am looking for some expertise/pictures or drawings of the mast step. My dealer forgot to install my wind machine. So rather than unstepping the mast, I mounted the transducer and tried to feed the transducer wire throught the mast with a pull string. I can reach the deck but cannot pull it through...
