repair of push button latch on aft cabin closet door

Hello fellow sailor! Looking for some input and thoughts on best way to repair the silver circular pushbutton ring surroundiung the latch for the aft cabin door on the closet? I know I could just glue the silver ring outside the pushbutton to keep in place, but am not keen on that, in cae I ever have to replace the latch in total down the road.. Pix attached...
