Alternator charging horror

Post by Fiftybucks »

Well if you remember I had the alternator wire died by mech at Titusville. This morning I was checking the belt tendon and that dust. The main alt mount bolt was sitting down by the port motor mount. Took all apart. Did not have Loctite but now I can double check until I get some. Started and right away 50 amps!!!!!! The alt belt is dangerously close to the water pump out. And hose. While the bolt was off it was hitting there and that was the dust source. I have some other belts even with adjustment that save is too close. I really need to change where tat hoes is clamped.

No question, a visual inspection of the "engine room" every 25 hours is important to mechanical reliability.

DO IT!

Chris,
Suggest you post a picture of the hose to belt clearance area of concern.
