Through hull fitting uv damage

Post by sargentef »

The through hull fitting (starboard side) that drains the forward anchor locker has deteriorated badly. The portion that is above the waterline has no bottom paint on it, it is here that the uv damage is readily apparent. The lower portion that has been bottom painted is fine. We what to replace it!

"Practical Sailor" has a small article in the May issue about the material that the fittings are made of (plastic/nylon) which implies they are the same.

West marine has a fitting by "Perco" which is made of (Acetal Resin) and is only for use above the water line.

So...has anyone else had this through hull go bad and what did you use to replace it?
