Hi. My Garmin Chartplotter cannot find out where it is. I want to purchase another Garmin GPS receiver and see that there are two, one is for NMEA 2000 and the other for 0183. Unfortunately, I am not at the boat, but was wondering if the boat is a 2006, could it have either of those installed? If it is not possible to determine, then I can wait until the weekend to view which it is on the Chartplotter.
thanks in advance.

Hi Dave,
You are probably best to wait to look at the boat to see what you have. That being said there are converters so you can run NMEA 0183 on NMEA 2000 networks. Since you are using Garmin ( I just replaced all of my Raymarine with Garmin) it is easier to use generic devices than the Raymarine proprietary network.
