That is to say for all you folks that own Thetford / Dometic / Wilcox Crittenden Newport heads.
Yep, I made my trip to Seattle and spoke with the good folks at Marine Sanitation. Of the two joker valves that they thought would work, the Jabsco with the triangular valve matched the best, but was not perfect. ( I do think that it would have worked though) Then the sales rep asked the manager if she'd looked at the Raritan. We pulled one out and measured and found a nearly perfect match.
Heres the numbers:
- Thetford Original
OD 2 7/32
Thickness 6.5/32
Blade 1 23/32
Opening 1 16/32
Tongue 6/32
Raritan Model C253
OD 2 6/32
Thickness 7/32
Blade 1 22/32
Opening 1 15/32
Tongue 7/32
Tongue is the thickness of the section that has the razor split to allow waste to pass through. I figure a bit thicker can only mean it will last a little longer.
Only downsides are that the Raritan costs $19.25 and is red. So much for fashion. At $20 bucks it still a lot less than the $185 for the kit and at least we can get these guys. The manager of the store, when asked what was the likelihood that Raritan would discontinue this joker, she replied not very likely as it's used in all of their current line of heads.
So.. there ya go.
