Heat Pump

Post by SVTIKI »

Hi, everyone...

Our AC/Heat Pump blows but not warm air. It cools just fine, but the heater isn't heating. Haven't even begun to delve into it, but thought I'd post to see if anyone has any hints before we start. Then there's the issue of our Panda generator not consistently working, but that's a whole 'nutha story.
Anyone? Anyone? Thanks...Pam and Russell Brown, S/V TIKI

Please post what make and model heat pump you have.

But, as a general comment, sounds like the shuttle valve may not be operating properly-- it "reverses" flow so the evaporator (on A/C) becomes the condenser (on heat).

Thanks for the response! It's a Rotary Aire 17,000 BTU (Westerbeke). According to the manual troubleshooting guide, the "reversing valve" may not be engaged. This sounds like it is the same thing as the shuttle valve you mentioned. If so, I can't seem to find/access it on the unit, and when I do get to it, do you know a good way to check whether it is functional?
