Thanks & Mic Drop

Post by BillBerner »

To all -

My 2003 350, Spartina - Hull 66, has been sold.

I'll be replacing her with a Caliber or IP in order to get into blue water cruising.

I want to thank everyone on the list, especially Ken for keeping it going, for all the help and suggestions over the last 8 years or so.

If it weren't for this group the boat wouldn't be in the condition she is, which was a huge aid in making a quick sale.

All the best, and thanks again.

Bill,

As you narrow down your "short list", let us know what is on it.

Many of us have experience with other sailboats.

And/or let us know your criteria for your next boat and perhaps we can make recommendations based on experience.

Hi Bill,

I to am getting ready to sell my 2003 350. Time for a bigger boat. Could you send along info on how much she sold for and any add-ons she had.

I am looking into around a 45ft boat and am interested in what boats 350 owners are interested in. Similiar headroom to the Catalina is a major consideration.

Best of luck in your search.

Short List was Thanks & Mic Drop

Post by BillBerner »

List is already pretty short.

Requirements pretty specific.

Relatively old school cruiser, 38 - 42' LOD.
D/L of at least 250, MCR in the 30's, B/D hi 30's low 40's.
Sugar Scoop Transom. (Might consider a bolt on platform, or adding one, but prefer not)
Island or Pullman berth in owners

Max listed price 225K, prefer 175K. I'd go to higher end depending on davits, electronics, wind generator, solar, ssb, etc.
Otherwise spend less and I'll put it all in myself.Aft Cockpit Cutter, prefer removable inner forestay.

Seems to bring me to IP380, IP420, or Caliber 40LRC all Late 90's early 2000's. Passport 40 and 41's very intriguing, but OLD.

Prefer the Caliber for windward work, lighter air potential, and joinery. Prefer IP's for interior space and layout.

Decisions decisions.

Brian, et. al.

Here's some info about the sale & boat -

Listed on July 19, 19 for 79,500. Accepted 73K last week of Sept. My goal was to sell the boat in a reasonable amount of time. Didn't want it to sit for a year or two only to accept the same $ eventually. But I didn't expect it to go before Spring, so I accepted a bit less than I would've liked since I wouldn't have to winterize (I always did it myself), pay for storage, or bottom paint next Spring.

Here's detailed info on the boat -

Pretty excellent condition over all.
