Boat Insurance

Post by Mark Sutherland »

I've been insured with Boat US/Geico for the past 2 years, during which they've raised my rates over 50%, to nearly $1,400/yr. We're on the west coast, so no exposure to hurricanes, and we've had no claims. Any recommendations? Thanks.

We too are insured with Boat US/Geico for the past 4 years. We have seen 50% rate increases in the past two years, no claims. We are on the east coast (Long Is., NY).

Ours is up to a $1020, with Markel, but that's only for Coastal waters, Point Conception to Rio Santo Thomas (just south of Ensenada)

We use Progressive, pay $1,606, have had no increase in 2 years despite one large claim, coverage out 75 miles from the entire US coast.

We’re with American Family Insurance. I’ve confirmed we have full coverage for all situations including environmental cleanup. My annual premium is $535.

I have Nationwide which covers all the East coast out 300 miles (I think). $1000 deductible and no replacement at original cost because it's older than 10 years. I pay $706.
