DINGHY DAVITS

Post by RCMURPHY »

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FOLKS. I AM CONTEMPLATING THE INSTALLATION OF KATO'S DINGHY DAVITS. I HAVE REALLY GOTTEN TIRED OF DRAGGING MY DINGHY AROUND AND THINK THIS MAY BE A BETTER WAY. I WAS WONDERING WHAT YOUR EXPERIENCES WERE IN INSTALLING AND USING THESE ALONG WITH ANY NEGATIVES YOU MAY KNOW OF.

Did you ever install the davits? If so, how are they working out?

In response to your inquiry-I purchased a set of dinghy davits from Garhauer at the Annapolis boay show a few years. I just got to installing them this spring. I installed them myself and found the task fairly easy. They are made of heavy guage stainless steel and are well built-and easily hold my 70 lb dinghy. I am satisfied with them. A downside is they do not pivot inboard-unlike the KATO brand-so they are always extended sternward. Garhauer folks are very nice to deal with.
