Battery Life

Post by zman18 »

My batteries are going on 4 years old and although they appear to be working fine I suspect they may be getting near the end of there useful life. Does anyone know a way to test the batteries in the boat to see if they are still in good working order? Thanks

Two ways:

Full charge and borrow a load tester.

Fully charge and put a known load on them for a long period of time. Turn off load and let sit for an hour when the load times time= 1/2 amp-hr rating of the batteries. Compare volt reading at that time with 50% discharged battery= 12.2 VDC.
