Raymarine C80 NMEA port

Post by elk »

I'm upgrading to a Raymarine Axiom 9 chartplotter and wondering what the NMEA port on the C80 is used for, do I need to transfer that cable to the Axiom somehow? I don't have any NMEA device that I'm aware of, no AIS, etc.

Thanks for any forthcoming info.

Most commonly used for AIS so that it displays on your MFD. Assuming that your AIS is not a Raymarine model which would communicate via SeaTalk or SeaTalk NG. Could also be used by autopilot, again assuming that you had a non Raymarine autopilot.

Hi, new to the forum and C350. I’m looking into replacing my C80 with an Axiom 9 as well. The boat is still pending close So I can’t look closely.

Is the cabling used for the C80 Seatalk ng or is it Seatalk 1?

Hello

Looking at a picture of a C80 I found on-line, it has the 3 pin connector for SeaTalk 1 on the back. So you will need the ST1 to STng converter.
