There's a Couple Here Already

In the last week, I added a couple of easy, inexpensive projects that I have accomplished on April IV - one is some stern rail cushions - posted in the "hull" section (where else to put it?). The other is a low friction reefing project - posted in the "rigging" section. Let's see...

New C309 has AC/DC Fridg

I notice that Catalina used an AC/DC powered, apparently self contained refrigeration / freezer unit in the new 2006 C309 - as shown here: http://newimages.yachtworld.com/1/4/6/3/9/1463967_4.jpg According to the spec sheet, it automatically switches power sources to whichever is available. Interesti...

Insulation and Fan

Ever wonder how much and what type of insulation lurks between the freezer compartment and the refrigerator compartment on our 350's? Now you can see for yourself: http://home.comcast.net/~tpbrogan/INSULATE.JPG The angle is a bit funny, but it's between 3/4" and 7/8" foam. You can also see...

Head Impller Pin Replacement

Had been wanting to post this for about the last 18 months or so, finally this great website is working and here you go! There had been a rash of reports of the electric toilet going inop - and in my situation - and some others, the problem was a sheared or missing cotter pin holding the impeller on...

Stern Rail Cushions

Here's another super inexpensive project. We really like our stern rail seats, but found them a little uncomfortable around the back when sitting for long periods of time. I grabbed some pipe insulation from the hardware store - the foam type that is scored and ready to be placed around a pipe. http...

Low Friction Reefing Project

I read about this in a Mainsheet article last year and thought it would make reefing our traditional main a little easier - and involved very little cost. I bought this hardware - the rings are sized at 1 inch (I think - although at the time I bought one at one size larger - they just have to not sl...

Hugh - Pictures

Hugh - Jerry posted a set of instructions for posting pictures - it's contained in a post in this topic, titled "props, zincs, etc." There also is another picture I posted that gives a better perspective of just how much space there is between the blade tips and the hull. The picture in th...

Expound on your theory?

Hugh - interesting statement about how the problem is "most certainly in the hull design....prop partially shielded by the thick stern section...too close to the hull" Can you point out a little of what you are talking about in the following picture: http://home.comcast.net/~tpbrogan/DSCN3...

Hints and Tips from previous 350 Site?

Hi Jerry - do you know what happened to the "Hints and Tips" compilation that was posted on the previous 350 website? There is a current post looking for info on Winterization - and although I have the luxury of year round (although frequently bundled, freezing my  up cold) sailing h...

Right size image?

What is a suggested image size so that scrolling left to right isn't necessary? I know it has something to do with monitor size, but help me get in the ballpark. I think that 800 pixels wide is too wide - what's a good number?

Thanks.

Descenders

Looks more like a problem with the font on the "3" & "5" than the "0" - the descenders on the 3 and 5 drop below the line - look at how the "0" lines up with the word "Catalina". A webmaster's work is never done....... :) I certainly appreciate t...

Great Boat - You'll have fun!

docdadd - We're just in the process of moving over here (to this board) from a Sailnet/Sailjazz email list, so the responses might be a little slow coming. A fair number of owners have been active on the board and have lots of advice and thoughts. Hopefully some will join in. One of the key things o...

Prop, Zinc, etc

A little bit of testing here. We hauled April IV this week for her bottom paint and I took the opportunity to snap a couple of pictures. In particular, we on the email list have had a lot of discussion over the last years about zincs. Here is a picture of a "prop cone zinc" installed, and ...
