Re: Mast up standing rigging replacement
Alex, there was a post on the C34 message board about this topic. They mentioned that some of the stay/shroud measurements listed in the manual were off by as much as a foot so I wouldn't roll the dice with a project this costly. What about removing each component, one at a time and use a spare haly...

Re: Reverse Polarity
Gary are the plugs on both ends factory originals? If so and there is no sign of burning/arcing then the problem almost certainly has to be with the insulation on the 3 cable strands. Run the checks that Brett suggested and let us know what you find. If the cord is a name brand (Marinco, Hubbel) it ...

Re: Looking for advice on C350 purchase...
Kenny, welcome and good luck on your search for a 350. I have one crack similar to what's shown on the linked picture except mine is only about 2" long and is only in the non-skid, Since yours span the non-skid and the gel coat in an unbroken line I suspect the problem is in the gel coat layer....

Re: Water damaged starboard salon and galley veneer
Sorry about your Ian induced problems. You’ve proved that even being out of the water doesn’t keep you out of harms way. I believe that the nuts & bolts you are referring to not only secure the rub rail but also form the hull to deck joint. I suspect that removing the nuts and then re-attaching ...

David I’ve never removed the bulkhead you’ve referenced but have a “long shot” possibility. I’m a retired veterinarian and frequently had to deal with blood on a white smock. I found that full strength hydrogen peroxide would completely remove the stain. I don’t think you have anything to lose by gi...

My heater is also on the starboard side but found that removing the STARBOARD locker shelf didn't provide adequate access. Once the PORT shelf is removed there is ample room to move to the starboard side and work on the heater.

Re: VHF antenna replacement
Dan, do you have any reason to suspect this could have been due to a lightning strike? If so then the core of the antenna base might be fried. Consider buying a new antenna mast plus the complete unit. Take both up the mast with you replacing only the mast first. Have someone below conduct a radio c...

Re: Hot water temp
Steve when you measured the water temperature were you plugged into shore power? Under that scenario the heating element in you heater might be suspect rather than something inhibiting the flow of coolant through the heater as occurs when you're motoring. Your hot water should be at least 125 degree...

From the Forespar web site - All MARELON® integrated valves have a removable plug in the handle (white cap with loop). This plug is made to fit into the external thru-hull (non-screened style only). In an emergency, this plug can be placed in the thru-hull (water pressure will keep it in) and the va...

Dave, that panel comes off without removing the wood handhold but it's a devil to get out. Mine had some caulk around it that needed to be cut free also. When I installed a new commode and hoses, that was the worst, most difficult part of the job !

In the past, Catalina Yachts Parts department has sold gelcoat repair kits, Buying from them should ensure a perfect match other than fading that has occurred on your boat since manufacture. I've had the best luck calling them right when they open (9:00 ?) at 727-544-6681.

Re: AC runs, no error message, but takes a rest for a while, and then works again
I think you’re on the right track looking at the water cooling system. Take a look at the water discharge when the unit it running and gauge the amount of water flow. When the system stops the compressor has a chance to cool down and the system recycles. I’m in fresh water so no experience with Barn...

Re: Anchor roller and tray
I bent my roller several years ago and had zero success trying to straighten it. Maybe some industrial sized equipment would work but I just ended up replacing mine. If you go that route, be aware the that piece of stainless is bonded to the deck with what was probably 3M 5200. I had a devil of a ti...
