Re: DC panel wiring

Well it looks like I need a little more help. The LED on the switch panel next to the LP Solenoid switch worked for over a year after we bought our 2003 C350. One day it just died. Looking at the back of the panel and the mounting method it appears to have been the original LED. I replaced it with a...

With your help I may now have a once in a lifetime chance of finishing a project without stopping mid project to go buy that one part I didn’t account for when planning the job. (In this case, a ring connecter for that negative buss)

DC panel wiring

I’m not going to be on the boat for a few days, but am trying to buy all the supplies I need for a little project now. I’m hoping someone can help me by identifying some wiring on the DC side of the panel. Getting a clear understanding will help me get my stuff together now and save me a trip or two...

Re: Heat exchanger zinc

I’m about to replace all cooling hoses and had a thought I would like members to comment on. The heat exchanger (HE) zinc is a bit of a pain to change since it’s in a blind spot and facing down. Since I’m having the HE serviced when I replace hoses and the HE mounting brackets are straps, I could ro...

I Googled “universal m35b parts”. First hit to appear was a pdf file with a parts manual. Below that were other sources and supplier web sites.

M35B cooling system hoses

Does anyone know if there is a kit or p/n list for all hoses in coolant and sea water cooling (minus the hose that runs from the engine to water heater)? Or is it just a matter of measuring existing hose size and cumulative length and buying a long piece of hose and cutting to length as you replace ...

Re: Parasitic battery drain

Erik Brett is probably right. If you have Nigel Calder’s book he has other tests you can make. If you have access to a clamp on dc ammeter you can chack for energized loads or leak. If you have a helper and a dc volt meter have your helper check battery voltage as you crank the engine although a loa...

Sorry for the slow response. I was wrong. No venturi. Gravity drain.

Re: Condensate drain

I took the AC enclosure apart. My condensate drain is a venturi that sucks condensate into the sea water discharge line as its leaving the condenser.

Condensate drain

My 2003 Catalina 350 has the original Westerbeke Rotaryair AC unit enclosed in a box plenum in the starboard cockpit locker. Does anyone know how the condensate is removed from the boat?

Re: Second Bilge Pump

John, i added a second pump on a previous boat that had a keel stepped mast and a shaft packing gland that dripped a little bit of water when the shaft turned. So there was often some casual water in my bilge. Rain water down the mast and the gland drip. I decided to stack 2 pumps with seperate floa...

Re: Deck Light Pre-Wiring?

Mark, I'm not on my boat today but I am looking at the owner's manual. Is your steaming light switch the second switch down in the middle column of switches on the 12 volt dc distribution panel? If so, what is the label on the 3rd switch down on the left column (my manual says the top 3 on the left ...

Estimates of project time

I've got several projects on tap this fall. I'm hoping some of you who have done (or have paid to have done) these projects may remember the number of hours involved in completing each. 1. Replace all cooling water hoses (sea water and coolant) associated with engine and water heater. 2. Remove, cle...

Re: Mark I Refrigeration Insulation Upgrade

I made some of the frig upgrades mentioned in this string and it really helped. We all seem to have complaints about our frig/freezers. Yesterday I discovered something shocking that may make us a little more tolerant of the defects. Out boat is now in Tampa. Docked with bow facing south so starboar...

Re: Replacing Newport with Sea Era

Take a look at the Jabsco model 37245-1092 before you make your choice. I replaced my Newport 1600 with the Jabsco and I could not be happier. It is a regular size 'household' bowl and fits the space with no restrictions getting in the shower. Somewhat of a smart flushing action seems to reduce the ...

No additional fittings, adaptors, etc required. I'm on the boat travelling and the receipt is at home so I am sorry I can not g...

Julia Tuttle bridge height - Miami

Has anyone taken their Catalina 350 under the Julia Tuttle Bridge? It's posted as 55' but there are comments on Active Captain that claim the height is not accurate. Hoping someone on our board has "been there, done that". I measured the height to the top of our VHF antenna, we are 54'. If...

An additional source is West Marine or Defender. Both sell syringes for injecting epoxy. The business end can be cut to give you the whole size you want
