Re: Newport Pump Losing Prime?
Vented loop should not be on the suction side of pump. Normally it should be between the pump exit and bowl inlet. If it is in the suction side, I would highly suspect that is the source of your problem. The vent's function is to let air in so the hose can drain, thus preventing a siphon from develo...

Re: Refrigerator & freezer hatch door insulation upgrade hel
Phil, regarding alignment of the doors. As I remember, I did the refrig first, and as you mentioned, marked the the edges before applying the adhesive. I noted at this time that there was still some clearance of these new panels in the opening, but a lot less than with the original panels. To do the...

Re: Refrigerator & freezer hatch door insulation upgrade hel
Phil, I did this several years ago, and as I recall, it was difficult but not impossible. The fiberglass insulation panels on the underside of the counter top lids are held in place by blobs of 3M 5200 adhesive along the edge and in the middle. To remove, I used a 1" wide putty knife with a chi...

Re: Engine Alarm / Buzzer
Jerry,
I haven't really noticed anything about the red light. It works well enough to see it in daylight, but the angle on the dashboard is not ideal, so I usually have to lean over to see if it is on.

Re: Engine Alarm / Buzzer
Jerry, I have hull#72 and have the same experience with the buzzer/light. Last spring my oil pressure sensor failed (terminal broke off) and I had to replace it. The buzzer worked correctly for about 3 more startings before returning to its intermittent performance. It has been so unreliable that i ...

Re: Shroud Covers
I have used nylon shroud covers on the split backstays and shrouds for the past 10 years. I did not have any covers on the aft shrouds, and when I tuned the rig in March, I could not tell the difference between the covered and uncovered shrouds and fittings. Mine do not fit tight to the shrouds and ...

Re: AIS Installation?
Charlie, I installed AIS (receiver only) on my early model C-350 (hull # 72). On my boat there is a cabinet above the nav station with a roll-up door. My vhf radio, stereo, and tank gauge are mounted in the face of this cabinet (see attached picture). In my AIS installation, I mounted the receiver u...

Re: YET ANOTHER BATTERY QUESTION
RWBower: I have an early model Charles charger (2003), and it, like yours, has no switch anywhere. Two years ago I replaced my charger with a Xantrex 60 amp (it has an equalization setting, and I wanted that for my flooded lead-acid batteries). After seeing your post, I took my old Charles Charger o...

Re: Damper Replacement
Hans, I had mine replaced by a mechanic in Nov 2011. The total cost, including replacement damper, was about $850. This was done by a mechanic on Amelia Island, FL.
Good luck,

Re: Idiot Lights
Mine have never come on when the key is on. I believe these are engine temp. and oil pressure warning lights. I know the engine temp. works because my cooling water pump failed and it came on then. Don't recall ever seeing the oil pressure light on.

Re: Running new Alternator output wire
I had the port side sole up just today. There are a couple of access openings; 1 square opening (about 10") about 1 foot forward of the engine compartment and another 6" round opening farther forward near where the battery cables from the starter enter under the port settee. Using these tw...
