Re: Raymarine Axiom+ MicroSD access

Tim I have done the chart updates by syncing my Navionics app on my phone with the MFD Navionics. This is done by Wi-Fi between the phone and the Axiom. First I update the charts on the phone by WiFi or cell data and then sync with the plotter and all the charts get updated. I have only done a LH up...

Re: Raymarine Axiom+ MicroSD access

Hi Tim and Steve I installed one of those remote mSD carder readers. It makes LH software updates easier. I download them to a mSD at home on the PC then use the card reader to install the software at the boat. I can update Navionic charts from the Navionic app on my iPhone. But for updating the ann...

Re: Buying a C350 in Covid year 2020

Hello Pieter I recall you and Geoff both came over to Pt Roberts to look at the Wabasto hydronic heater installation on Sand Dollar. Glad to hear you got your boat out of Blaine in time for last season. We're hoping we can get back to Pt. Roberts at some point. Damn Covid gets in the way. We'll be i...

Re: A chunk of keel

Hi Bob Yea if the drawings show it placed in the discharge side then the yard did get it wrong. When I questioned them at the time they assured me it was wrong and even mentioned something about that setup could restrict coolant flow and cause engine overheat ???? Anyway I took them at their word, b...

Re: A chunk of keel

Hi Bob Rep told me that seal water is not required on slow boats, i.e.) sailboats. This is because the seal normally has (sea) water in contact with it and is lubricated that way. I'm supposing that fast boats with planing hulls lose direct contact with the water and so the seal can run dry and wear...

Re: Installing new wire up to the Masthead

Trevor Thanks very much for your input, gives me some hope I'll be able to do it with the wind sensor cable too. Question: once you got the coax out the bottom of the compression post what routing did you take to get it to the nav table area? Did you just continue to pull it with the existing coax o...

Re: Buying a C350 in Covid year 2020

Bob and Cherie Congrats on your new C350. Welcome to the club! We've owned Sand Dollar since 2016 and we're her second owners. We previously owned a C320 for 15 years and a Newport 28 before that. As you get out in the cruising grounds you will see a few C350's around but fewer now until all our sou...

Re: Installing new wire up to the Masthead

I just found some postings on here from 2015 which gave me some good information.

I should add that I don't have in mast furling, does that simplify anything?

Installing new wire up to the Masthead

I'm looking at pulling a new wire up to the masthead; I want to avoid un-stepping the mast if possible. I spoke to a rigger who said it can be done but says getting it through the deck plate can sometimes be a problem. Has anyone done this and has the deck plate been a tight spot that causes problem...

Re: Raymarine C80 NMEA port

Hello

Looking at a picture of a C80 I found on-line, it has the 3 pin connector for SeaTalk 1 on the back. So you will need the ST1 to STng converter.

Re: A chunk of keel

Regarding the PSS seal: In my experience in industrial operations they use what they call mechanical seals ( as opposed to packing gland seals) which are installed on many different types of pumps, the lifetime of these seals is typically more than 5 years. These industrial seals use a graphite surf...

Nice installation! What size charger cables did you run to the battery bank? Is it a 70A charger?

Thanks

Curious to know what you used to polish it. My forward hatch is, to my eye, fully crazed but maybe polishing would help.

Peter

Thanks for the input. I was thinking to try the replacement myself, the lens and seals etc are available on Calalina Direct. But might be better to send it away as you did.

Thanks again.

Did you do the lens replacement? If so how did it go for you. The cover is a great idea.

Re: Lewmar Opening Portlight Seal

Just want to tag along on this old post. My opening ports are OK, but I am considering replacing the lens on the forward hatch. Since the boat is 3 hours away wondering if anyone knows if this one is a trapezoidal hatch. I believe the other hatches are all the square, low profile type and its only t...

Bill
In my last post I wrote the price was higher, but realize I was looking at a color display version. $19 is a great price the monochrome display which what I need.

Thanks again.

Re: Refrigeration cycling

Bill I just had a look at the SwitchBot Temp/Humidity sensor for iPhone. Its looks to be a much better solution, but at a higher price. You get what you pay I suppose. I'm going to get one. Like the idea that a separate display unit is not needed, one less thing. I do have the Victron battery monito...

Re: Refrigeration cycling

thanks Ken I haven't come across the Accurite products in my searches so far, but must say the recent LaCrosse reviews were not good. Taylor is another brand that had poor recent reviews although earlier reviews were quite good. It might be that all of these are now made in China and maybe the quali...

Re: Refrigeration cycling

Hello all. Picking up on this thread now as I want to get an IN/OUT wireless thermometer for the fridge. Checking out Lowe's and Home Depot, most of these units got poor reviews, 2-3 Stars at best. Has anybody had a good experience with these and what brand names could you recommend. Many of the neg...
