Re: Thermostat replacement - part number for a c350 mkii 2008
Thanks all for your help. We went with the kubota and after consulting with our mechanic, it seems that it might not be an issue to run at 180 (80C) instead of 160 (70C) Seems to be ok in fresh water as running too hot in salt water is causing more salt damage as the exchanger will heat more, but ap...

Thermostat replacement - part number for a c350 mkii 2008
We would need to order a replacement as a preventative measure on our Catalina 350 mkii from 2008, hull 452 We are based in east Canada. We have the engine reference but we were told that we needed to identify the tractor model in order for Kubota to easily provide us the part . Our engine is Kubota...

No rush Ken as our boat is on his steel support out of water as per 99% of sailing vessel in east Canada. It will get back in water on May 7 so take you time

Josh, Here's a picture of what I did. The post on the table is 2" diameter. I used a hole saw to cut the piece of teak that backs up to the leg. Let me know if you have any other questions. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-5/1182741/wincholder.JPG The photo seems to have vanished , could yo...

Re: Winch Handle Holder location
I finally mounted two holders to the base of the pedestal using strapping. No holes were drilled. The holders have slits in the sides at both the top and at the bottom to accomadate 1" strapping which I purchased at West Marine along with two SSteel "buckles". It's OK and has worked ...

Re: Drilling into/mouting to pedestal-winch handle holders
Additionally, I have two identical winch holders attached in the same way, in the same place, side by side for two winch handles; 1 shorter for me and the other normal size for everyone else. They are easily accessible for either winch. I've never moved them and just scrub/hose them down with the r...

Re: Cutlass bearing installation doubt - need advice
I wanted to make sure that I share our findings, huge thanks to Warren from Catalina. We have confirmed that our installation is likely an original one so the doubt brought by the marine surveyor has now been cleared. The cutlass bearing should come out of the FRP tube between 5/8” to ¾” inch. Cutla...

Re: Total Loaded Boat Weight?
Got the boat lifted few weeks ago and she was 22,000 lbs confirmed by crane operator.
It is hull 452, a 350 mkii
We had full diesel tank and 2 of the water tanks empty
It was with a dinghy, it’s engine, and a Bimini.

Removing /Cleaning the water separator
We are surely not the only one looking at a dirty water separator bowl. Reviving this old post. I have looked at it yesterday on fuzion III (Hull 452), not filthy, but I would like to get it sparkling clean to monitor. And I am a little puzzled by the accessibility, or lack of it, of how to purge th...

Re: Cutlass bearing installation doubt - need advice
Thanks so much for reassuring us, I guess the limit of the surveyor knowledge.
Of course we will keep a close eyes to it, taking a measure before having the boat back in water, probably dive each month to measure again and definitely measure it next autumn.

Re: Cutlass bearing installation doubt - need advice
Thanks we will explore this closely. We checked and the surveyor told us that if it was slipping out there would be line in the shaft due to the Allen key locking it in place. So in his opinion not a problem in motion but a mounting issue or a different setting. We are trying to analyse whether it i...

Cutlass bearing installation doubt - need advice
Morning , We are about to finalize the purchase of our first 350 mkii and during the inspection, the surveyor looked at the shaft and told us it would need to be flush, as it seems to stick out at the moment. 5BE8764B-F584-4366-BF35-0A84410B76D5.jpeg Any visual reference like photos of your shaft, a...
