Re: when is it time to replace rudder bearings?

Hi Steve, You’ll know when it’s time to address the rudder bearings. The thumping will get worse, to the point where it feels/sounds like the rudder is floating up in certain conditions. Typically is starts with thumping when you turn the rudder to its limits port and starboard. With that said, it’s...

Re: Idle RPM Vibration

I did not know that there was a back flow plate in the muffler -- in addition to the vibration, the exhaust has been a little "louder" than a few years ago. Is the back plate inside the muffler?

Re: Idle RPM Vibration

Thanks Ken — I’ll take a look. Great idea with the nail polish. It’s hard to describe vibrations, but it just feels like something is lose…

Idle RPM Vibration

Hello, I’m just over 400 hours on engine in my 2005 Catalina 350. Recently, the vibrations and rattles at idle have become more pronounced. I had my trusted mechanic out last week to check things over. He said everything was ok, but my idle RPMs were a little low. I went down to check on the boat to...

Thanks John. -- adding Charles 5000 (wrong model number in my subject), so that this thread is searchable with the correct model number.

Thanks Ken. Good to hear you have a similar setup. I’m going to reconnect the second today and go from there.

Charles 3000 Charger -- Dual Battery Charging

Hello, On my C-350 Dreams of Blue Hull# 176 I have 2 battery banks (Bank #1 House and Bank #2 Single Group 31 Battery). On my last trip out I discovered that battery #2 was dead. This was after I forgot to turn the breakers back on from my prior trip. So, I chalked it up to the battery not being cha...

Re: Rudder Bearings Replacement and Availability

David, Thank you for the detailed write up. Earlier this season, when Dreams of Blue was on the hard I reset my lower bearing. The 3M4200 had completely dried up from 16 years of service and it was free spinning around the rudder post. I had a little knocking when my wheel was hard over. I was able ...

Folding the Bimini

Hello all,

This may sound like a crazy question, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fold up the Bimini on my 350.

If anyone has any pointers or pictures on how to fold/collapse the Bimini, it would be great appreciated!

Thank you,
Chris

Re: Fuel System - Problem Solved

Thank you.

I think I lost the washer under my bleed screw, in the process of checking for air in the fuel system.

Is there anything special about the Westeberke/Universal part or will any copper washer that fits the screw size be sufficient?

Fuel System - Problem Solved

Hello, This is my first post to the forum — rather than ask a question, I wanted to post a fix solution. I got here from reading brought the forum below and some prior experience. On Sunday I was headed out for an afternoon of sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. Just out side of the entrance channel of t...
