Re: Larger Holding Tank

We, too, can't believe how quickly the holding tank fills up. We are convinced that the electric head uses a lot more water than needed, especially for non-solid-waste flushes. We have often thought about trying an "experiment" whereby the thru hull is closed and we use measured fresh wate...

Raritan sea era head -small leak

Head stopped pumping out waste and backed up. I took apart the pump at the back that holds the impeller and Macerator blade, replaced the o ring, shaft seal And seal plate. Put it back together and there is a very minimal leak. Anybody had this problem? What was the solution?

Securing dinghy on davits

Re: good places to retire

I hope you will consider the Gulf Coast of Alabama. Forget everything you've ever heard about Alabama, as we are a well kept secret (oops....maybe not anymore). We currently sail out of Orange Beach, Alabama, where the sailing season is all year. Situated between Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Flor...

Emergency rudder opening full of water

While cleaning the boat this weekend, we opened up the locking disk below the helmsman's seat that seals off the emergency rudder/tiller shaft and the shaft was full of water. Is this normal?

Re: Cockpit pad eyes

We had folding pad eyes installed on the lower port side of the companionway opening ( to tether into when coming up into the cockpit from below) and on the lower starboard side of the bench where the helmsman sits/stands.

Fix for leaking salon sidelights

The stationary salon sidelights have begun leaking (again). Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, what did you do to fix it? Silicone caulk?

Wish we were, but alas we are working stiffs! But, I do know that S/V Pekabu, Annapolis, MD, is currently in the Bahamas along with a C400, Bruenelle, and a C440, Andiamo. Have a great time!

Changing the oil

Since buying our boat new in 2008, we have had the dealer service the engine. We have decided to change the oil and service it ourselves. Any words of wisdom before we begin??
