Re: length over the water?

My 2003 owners manual Rev 3/3/03 calls out length overall as 36’ 5” and length on deck as 35’ 3”. Waterline length is 31’ 3”

Re: Dedicated start battery

Mike Wolfe’s suggestions are excellent. Allow me to suggest another option just to give you something to think about. I have my house batteries wired in parallel to battery switch #1 and an emergency start battery wIred to battery switch #2. Normally I have my switch on position #1 all the time and ...

Universal manual says 75.5 cubic inch, so yes, I would say it’s a bit less than 6 liters.

You can buy 4 Duracell GC2’s for under $400 at Sam’s. Less weight, less money than 4D’s.

Possibly rusty cable. Follow earlier post or if by yourself, try to move the shut off lever on the engine block.

Re: Self quarantined

This may seem way off the wall. At the dock only? Not when anchored? Is there a lighted flashing beacon nearby? We had a mysterious sound that seemed to be coming through the hull. Pulsing every 2 seconds. Turns out the pulsing frequency matched the rate of the flashing light on the beacon which was...

Cost to replace dodger, bimini snd filler

Has anyone within the past few years replaced or received quotations to replace their dodger, bimini and filler? It you would be willing to share prices I would like to do some comparisons.
Thank you

Re: Replacing Newport with Sea Era

Cuthbert
I replaced sanitation hose on my Morgan 384 many years ago and never had an odor problem with the white hose. Had head replaced on my 350 about 3 years ago. No odor. The white hose, if warmed a bit, can become more flexible which helps with tight bends.

Re: Newbie Embarking from Tampa to Titusville

Fifty I’ve followed this thread with interest since my wife and I have made the trip on several occasions. The advice you are getting is sound. In your 12/3 post you asked what appears to me to be a rhetorical question about going inside at government cut and taking the ICW. I don’t see any comments...

Charles 5000 battery charger

My 2003 Catalina 350 has an original Charles 5000 charger manufactured in 2002. When I bought my Catalina the charger owners/installation manual was the only literature the original owner did not have. Does anyone have this model charger that was built about 2002? I’m sure this isn’t a “smart” charg...

Re: Leak From Hatch Hinge

Ken, I share your pessimism. I had a similar issue. Small leak at the hinge. When I opened the hatch I found the hinge was no longer attached to the frame, only to the lexan. Hatch hinges were always a bit stiff which is a good thing to keep them open. But I found the hatch attachment to the aluminu...

Re: New Honda EU 2200i

Mike I used a Honda 2000 on my Morgan 384. Loved it. Your question takes a little deep research on your part to answer. A quick and superficial look at specs show the Honda output rated at 18 amps. If your AC unit is like mine, it is rated at 13 amps. Should be no problem. But look at the details. I...

Remote start/stop

Has anyone installed a second start key and push button in the engine compartment? I’m thinking about doing this to make it easier to change oil and filters(oil and fuel). Steps have to be removed to access the engine, change oil and filters, then steps reinstalled so I can climb to the cockpit to s...

Thank you John. Sounds like exactly what I’m looking for. Same mounting, same wiring, same pulley. I would also install the new one and keep the original as a spare. Amazon has it for $113 and free shipping.

Spare alternator

I have a 2003 Catalina 350 with the M35B engine. The alternator is the Mando 51 amp that came standard. No part number found. The owners manual mentions a possibe 71 amp alternate. The Westerbeake wiring diagram #200360 for Catalina shows 3 alternator options - 51 amp Mando, 51 amp Motorola (Prestol...

(Almost) FREE PART

If your 350 has a Wilcox Crittenden Newport 1600 marine head (toilet) you may already know they and many of their parts are obsolete and no longer available. I replaced my entire toilet a couple years ago. Cleaning out my parts locker today I found a mysterious elctric motor at the bottom of the loc...

Re: Low voltage at Temp Gauge

John Catalina Direct has a troubleshooting guide to engine instruments. From their home page search “temperature gauge”. Then look for the link to “Engine instrument technical information”. You’re on the right track. Temperature sender changes resistance wih temperature changes. Inversely. So voltag...

Replacing sheer stripe/cove stripe tape

Catalina Direct sells 50’ lengths of what they refer to as sheer stripe tape. Has anyone removed the older tape on their boat and replaced it with new tape? Reading the description it seems the tape is really tape, not a decal type product that is frequently used for boat names. I’m looking for sugg...

Harry you are probably going to get a wide range of responses. Here’s my contribution. I wanted to insulate my frig/freezer and a good friend convinced me to install a Victron meter to track battery volts, amps and most important to me at the time, amp hours. Following some attempt at insulating the...
