Re: Sherwood water pump

Ahoy Seawing -

I have replaced my Sherwood with an Oberdorfer. I have kept the Sherwood as a spare but would be willing to sell it. Please send me your contact information and I will get in touch about the details.

Cheers,

Re: Short Term Slip in Miami/Ft Lauderdale Area

As you probably know, slips are hard to come by in that area particularly this time of year. I’d suggest anchoring in No Name Harbor which is where a lot of boaters go before jumping over. It is very protected and there is a good Cuban restaurant!

Cheers,

Re: Heat exchanger zinc

Seabreeze - Interesting concept but I wold not do it. As you can see from other posts, the zinc pencil often breaks and it wold be more difficult to remove if rotated. Also, I think it might not remain in continuous contact with raw water in that position. I find it easiest to access from the rear o...

Re: Engine overheating

It should shoot out rather forcefully 6 or more inches. I was having major overheating. Finally traced it to clogged thruhull, hose and elbow into strainer. Cleaned with various tools and dinghy pump...

Re: Engine overheating

Many thanks Ken - Escape is up and running again! I scraped an amazing amount of marine growth, tiny shells and crap out the thru-hull, hose, and elbow connection to the raw water strainer. I thought there was no problem there because the strainer was clean. It was clean because the intake was almos...

Re: Engine overheating

Ahoy all - I've been having major overheating problems. The high temp alarm has gone off several times even at lower RPM. I shut it down right away of course and let the engine cool. I've checked the coolent level, impeller, exhaust exhaust elbow, pulled hoses and looked for flow blockages. Can't fi...

Re: ENGINE NOISE-DAMPER REPLACEMENT?

Many thanks to Jerry Ross for persisting and sending me your damper plate zip file. I worked with a mechanic last week following your very detailed and good instructions. I needed to have the transmission rebuilt because it was slipping in forward as well as replace the damper plate with the PYI RD ...

Re: Raritan PHII and PHEII conversion

Hi Al - The device with the arrow on it in the photo is a raw water strainer with a removable bowl. Not required but just an additional measure of insurance for the system. You are correct about the blue handled T-valve being the more accessible raw water intake shut off that I added. Jim McBrayer S...

Re: Raritan PHII and PHEII conversion

Don - Many thanks for your reply. I bit the bullet and installed the Raritan PHE II along with Raritan Saniflex Odorshield holding tank hoses. Cost was close to one BOAT buck but i hope worth it in the long run. I now have a manual or electric toilet just by changing just one bolt! I also added a Ra...

Raritan PHII and PHEII conversion

For those of you who have converted to the Raritan PHII or PHEII, how is it working? Did you need to change the size of the discharge hoses or configuration (1 1/2" ID reduces to 1" ID for old Newport 1600 head). Raritan tells me the lift capacity is tested to 7' but I'm concerned about th...

boom furling vs stack pack

I need a new main sail and am trying to decide what kind of rigging. My questions are: 1) if costs were equal, would members choose a full batten stack pack main or a roller furling boom? 2) if the roller furling boom is your preference, is it worth the additional $7-10K in cost? 3) what is the best...

adding an arch

Ahoy - Has anyone out there added an arch to the back of their C350? I am considering doing that instead of separate davits, solar panel mounts, and pole for outboard hoist and possible wind generator. I think it may be more functional, efficient, aesthetic to mount these accessories all on a stainl...
