Re: Sirius XM Install

I have a fairly unsophisticated install--but it works perfectly. The radio is installed above the nav station on the panes with the wire running behind the panel along the port side liner until it exits near the bulkhead. I then run it to the hatch on the port side where the small black square anten...

Re: Excessive Weather Helm?

Mark, I have a 2004 (hull 300) 350. I can only say that I have never made anywhere near 7 knots in 12 kts of wind (unless there was significant current aiding my way through the water). Regardless, there is always some weather helm but nowhere near that much in 12 kts. Last weekend we were sailing i...

Re: Raymarine Autopilot

Mine is mounted behind the wood instrument panel above the nav station. There are four mounting screws that hold the panel in place. I've changed out the computer twice--once when upgrading to the latest autopilot and previous to that when sending the unit to Raymarine for service. Mark Schlussel Le...

Re: Raymarine Autopilot

Mine is located along the bulkhead that separates the head from the saloon area on the port side (in the storage locker).

Re: Raymarine E80 and Navionics

I updated my card last year to replace the card that was originally meant for my C80 Unit. I paid $99 for fresh updates to the card prior to my having updated my chartplotter to an E125. Navionics exchanged the CF Card for a Micro SD card--which is the correct format for the e series chartplotter. B...

Re: Top down spinnaker

I have hull number 300 and installed a top down code 0 last year. We did not install a pole but instead used the port side anchor roller to install the furlex code 0. My yard fashioned a loop that goes around the bow roller and attaches to the bottom of the furlex drum. Works fine with a couple of c...

Re: raydar cable replacement in mast

Bill, I replaced by C80 and Radome this past Spring with a new E125 and HD color Radome. I also have the Charlston furling mast (2005). I replaced my existing autopilot with a new Evolution autopilot (only the course pilot, compass and display). My installer attempted to run the new cable down the m...

Re: Complete Electronics Replacement

I completed an upgrade to my electronics package this spring. I changed out by Raymarine C80 for a new E125; upgraded the autopilot to a new evolution autopilot and upgraded the radar to a new hd color radar system. My wind, depth and speed instruments were left as is except that I changed the wind ...

Re: Replacement of Raymarine Rl 70c radar chartplotter with

I am hopeful that the process with be painless (except for the $). We have already determined that we will likely need to unstep the mast in order to run the new cable for the digital radar unit. My existing cable run terminates in the mast at a junction box. We also determined that a new navpod wil...

Re: Replacement of Raymarine Rl 70c radar chartplotter with

Thanks for your post. I just got off the phone with my contact at the marina. We spent quite a bit of time discussing the options and a plan of action. It was quite helpful. He recommended that I go with the e125 MFD (12" display). It's a bit more money than the 9" but has a higher resolut...

Re: Replacement of Raymarine Rl 70c radar chartplotter with

The wind instrument works intermittently--but mostly not. It generally shows 3 dashes. Sometimes if I cycle the power a few times I can get it to work but it does not appear to display accurate information. I believe there is a fault in the unit or in the wiring. I haven't decided to definitely repl...

Re: Replacement of Raymarine Rl 70c radar chartplotter with

John, I never received a reply to my request for a quote from my Catalina dealer. I followed up at least twice but still no response. As an alternative, I requested that my current Marina provide me with a quote. They were very attentive and provided a preliminary quote for an upgrade to the new e s...

Not sure what you mean by steering system. I am advised that that actuator and other moving parts associated with the autopilot will work fine with the new EV200 autopilot.

It's been about 4 days since my request for a quote with options. It's only January but I am getting anxious.

Re: Replacement of Raymarine Rl 70c radar chartplotter with

John, I am in the process of researching an upgrade of my electronics and have contacted a Raymarine authorized installer/reseller for a quote and various options. I have hull 300 and the classic C80 chartplotter. Based on what I have found so far, the new chartplotters require an upgrade to one of ...

Re: Bulkhead Veneer Delamination

I had a similar delamination issue on my 2005 350 two years ago. I first noticed a bubble in the bulkhead panel following my annual hauling out for the winter. There was no separation at the seams only a bubble. At first I was going to hide the issue with some sort of decoration (clock, shelf, etc) ...

Re: 6V Golf Cart Battery Upgrade

I recently replaced my 4Ds with Interstate 4Ds at $140 each--after returning the core of my existing 4Ds to the dealer. So far so good and a lot cheaper, I think, than Gels or other upgrades.
