Re: fuel pump electrical help

The oil pressure switch is located on the engine block forward and below the starter motor. The solenoid should not get that hot. I think you might want to also check the glow plugs. They should be about 2 ohms each when disconnected from the power buss. Sounds like the solenoid was on continuously ...

Re: DC panel wiring

Rick,
Glad you solved the problem.
If anyone else needs the parts, you could pass them on or just hold on to them for the next project.

Cheers,
Leigh

Re: DC panel wiring

Add a 1000 Ohm 1/8 or1/4 watt (Brown,Black,Red) resistor in series in the positive lead of the Led to limit the current and drop the voltage. This should work to keep the led happy.

Re: Strange Hose

The hose appears to be the crankcase breather. The end is placed next to the air filter so as to vent out gasses and oil mist from the running engine.
The engine air filter foam might have to be cleaned to remove residue.
Make sure the other end is securely attached to the rocker cover.
Have fun.

Re: Electrical issues -complex

I would guess that all was well with the system until now, and you did not modify any part of the electrical system. Unplug or disconnect one AC appliance (including battery chargers and DHW heater and the zinc saver/s) one at a time and recheck your voltage readings. Or remove all AC appliances and...

Re: Does Water Heater Work Off 12V?

Mark, My water heater has a heat exchanger from the engine coolant and a 120 volt input for heating on shore power like yours. I think the Power requirements for the 120 volt heater element is over 1000 watts. Your 12 volt system (battery/alternator) will not be ample enough to provide hot water at ...

Re: Condensate drain

Rick, On our boat the condensate drain is the second small outlet above the waterline on the starboard side. One drain is the cooling/heating water for the AC. A hose comes from the bottom of the AC pan and is gravity fed to the drain. I had to replace both of these through hull fittings as they det...

Re: Location of Fuel Pump, Steering Quad Access

Which engine do you have in your boat? If it is like mine (2004) Universal M35B the fuel pump is located on the aft port side of the engine, It is an electronic pump with a basic square shape. The steering quadrant is accessible from the aft most port locker hatch. I have removed the quadrant to dro...

Re: Deck Light Pre-Wiring?

Mark, My deck light fell out early on when I got the boar. The entire cover, glass, bulb and reflector came crashing down on deck, I called Hella ( Keven Watkiss at Customer Service 770 631 7500 )and they sent a replacement cover assembly with glass which I glued in (not relying on the original snap...

Re: Deck Light Pre-Wiring?

The first place to look is at the wiring harness under the head sink below the floor. You might find the harness for the steaming/deck light that will be connected to the switch on the electrical panel. If you have a three conductor wire for the steaming light, then one of those wires should/might b...

Re: Newport model 1600 broken hinge on lid replace/repair?

Teri,
I found a complete lid replacement a few years ago on e-bay. As I remember about $15. The Hinge kit I also found at a plumbing supply shop but opted for a complete lid replacement for a few dollars more.

Good hunting.

Dave, I had the same problem last year. I called Catalina and they sold me some grey polyester gel coat that was a match for the deck and cockpit floor. Mixed some catalyst and dabbed the spot to fill the chips, I used a 1/2" brush with the bristles cut very short to dab the gelcoat on the spot...

Welcome to the "Club" Mine failed in 2011. Made new plastic and foam mount with plexiglass sheet and a foam garden kneeling pad. I used 4200 to glue the assembly together. So far so good! This pad/mount greatly reduces the noise transmission from the head to the boat. I used the old parts ...

Re: Additional Seating/Footrest

The seat is for converting the table to a sleeper. it fits at the head of the table when the table is lowered and completes the conversion.
The legs of the seat fold down to help with storage.
This part might be available from Catalina. We use ours all the time and find it a welcome addition.

I r/r my galley faucet. I used a "crows foot wrench" and a long extension to remove the nuts and hoses under the counter to release the parts.
Look at these wrenches and see if they would have helped you.

Bill, I replaced my pressure sender and did not drain the oil. I did let the engine stand over night so as to drain as much of the oil out of the upper end. Removed the old sender and quickly reinstalled the new one with little oil leakage. The sender has a specific install socket wrench which you c...
