Upgrade to High output alternator

No need to drop the rudder. The shaft will make it by the rudder if you turn the wheel a little.

I had the same problem. I decided to let the pros at the boatyard get it off. They used the same method using the socket and also used an air hammer. 3 hours later it came off. I was getting a thud and found it was the anchor roller sliding 1/4 of an inch on a windy night. I now put a wooden wedge in that space and it stopped the noise. My car on the boom was doing the same. Not moving back on its own. Once I started rolling the sail in with everything loose (main sheet, boom vang, topping lift) it rolls in easy and comes out easy. Make sure the main halyard is not too tight to.
