Interestingly, I had that issue, but figured it out quickly.

Re: Alternator output

I installed 6- 6 volt batteries and did all the rewiring necessary to make one large house bank. The 30 amp Charles charger was working hard. Actually the 30 amp fuse holder from the charger to the battery was too hot to hold. I'm not sure if this was an issue prior. I discovered that the fuse in th...

Re: Alternator output

Sorry for the confusion. I stated that , "My Plan" ( which has not been implemented yet)is to put the start battery on position 2. Currently it is not wired that way. The current config has 1 4D on Pos 1 and 1 4D on pos 2. A start battery that is isolated from that config but does have an ...

Re: Alternator output

An echo charger is a charging relay designed specifically for the situation I am proposing. I will have all 6, 6V batteries as one large house bank on position 1. The start/reserve battery will be on position 2. Normally the selector switch will be in position 1 unless it is too week to start the en...

Re: Alternator output

The engine circuit is definitely isolated from the house bank/panel circuit. I will install an echo charger so that the reserve battery can charged, either from the alt or shore power. I has successfully used this method on my catalina 30. In three seasons, always started off the house bank with no ...

Alternator output

Has anyone separated the alternator charging circuit from the started? It appears there is a jumper from the alt to the starter to direct current back to the start battery. I am in the process of replacing the 2 4D's with 4 6V batteries and have already added a third bank. I am assuming it is wired ...

Forward Tank Vent

I believe the vent/overfill for my forward tank is blocked. Probably a spider type deal.
I don't see an obvious way of removing the fitting in the anchor locker. Has anyone been down this road?

Propane tank

I would like to install a propane tack in the Port propane locker of which there is none. I would like to install the largest fiberglass one that will fit. So has anyone installed a larger metal and or Glass tank? A dock mate had an 11# fiberglass tank that I tried. The width was fine but it was a f...

I replaced the shower head with one that you don't have to hold a button to get water out. Also added a light that we got from the Annapolis boat show. I pulled a new circuit from the panel to control the light and added a swith at the pod. This was we can turn it off and not have to got outside. Ma...

On the Westerbeke AC unit with a Rotory Aire digital thermostat, Is there a way to make it stay in Heat only or Cool only?

Outhaul length

The outhaul line for the in-mast furler has a cut in the line.
I can find the rope lengths for standard rigs but not for in-mast rigs.
Anyone have the list of line lenghts?
Thanks

Re: st5000+ control head problems

My understanding is that they no longer repair these units. You will need to buy a new controller and an x-10 module. I am having an issue where auto tack works on occasion. Obviously you will need to double check that info. Currently I can live without auto tack, but I am sure other issues will fol...

Re: Chair tips for stern ladder

Maybe wrapping them in White rescue tape would make them last longer.
But considering they are about $2 for a four pack, I'll just change them out when they get bad.

Re: Re insulated refrigerators

I just re insulated my unit recently. It is definitely better but still not as cold as I would like. I spoke to a guru at Dometic and he said to get a kit that pulls conditioned air from the cabin to go across the coil. He said reversing the fan to discharge the air is not as effective. Now I will s...

Re: Dinette-Berth Conversion on 2003

Quick answer. We have a large table and a small table. The big table will store behind the headboard of the aft cabin covering the window. We also have a cushion for converting the table down to a bed. There are short posts for the table for this. Whether they were standard or an option, I can not s...

Re: I hate my refrigeration

This model does not control the spill over, they do have one that has two sensors. I am satisfied with knowing what the "relative" temp is in the freezer section. When my drinks are cold, the refrig section is fine. The controller has lots of functions but all are not applicable to marine ...

Re: I hate my refrigeration

I am now liking my system better. I defrosted the system and pulled out the evap coil. I did test holes in the box and found insulation everywhere. I did find many voids where the counter meets the top of the unit. One can of non expanding, water clean up type foam(love that) filled all the voids. I...

Just venting. Weekly thick frosting of the coil.
Still trying to find the leaks.
