Re: Thanks & Mic Drop
Brian, et. al. Here's some info about the sale & boat - Listed on July 19, 19 for 79,500. Accepted 73K last week of Sept. My goal was to sell the boat in a reasonable amount of time. Didn't want it to sit for a year or two only to accept the same $ eventually. But I didn't expect it to go before...

Short List was Thanks & Mic Drop
List is already pretty short. Requirements pretty specific. Relatively old school cruiser, 38 - 42' LOD. D/L of at least 250, MCR in the 30's, B/D hi 30's low 40's. Sugar Scoop Transom. (Might consider a bolt on platform, or adding one, but prefer not) Island or Pullman berth in owners Max listed pr...

To all - My 2003 350, Spartina - Hull 66, has been sold. I'll be replacing her with a Caliber or IP in order to get into blue water cruising. I want to thank everyone on the list, especially Ken for keeping it going, for all the help and suggestions over the last 8 years or so. If it weren't for thi...

Re: Cabin top winch starboard
Interesting. My winches are due fora servicing, so while i have them apart I’ll do a little recon underneath.
Cant imagine why the 2 of the bolts had nuts if that was the case though.

Cabin top winch starboard
Today I was installing a new rope clutch for an assym downhaul (tweaker). Intent was to remove the original Jam cleat from the furling line, as I had rerun that along the stanchions to the helm some years back, and mount it in the clutch in the same place. As a disgraced stand up comics routine used...

Re: installing a 12v accessory outlet at the helm
I installed one last season just so I could use a handheld spot light easily from the helm and car USB Charger for my iPad that I use as a backup chart plotter. I don’t recall if I took it right off the feed to the key switch or from my instruments circuit. Load is low enough that either would be fi...

Re: Wanted: Salon Dinette to Double Berth Conversion Kit
I have the dinette conversion kit, that I would be happy to part with. Kids grown, down to the admiral and myself. It’s in excellent condition. I bought it from Catalina after I got my 2003 #66. Green/Grey “leather” on the cushion and bench seat. Not sure if I have pictures, but will happily guarant...

iPad as chartplotter for $150
I've been using my Ipad with iNavx for a long time, in a sort of off line way. It's a wifi only iPad so wasn't of much use on the boat. For about 150 bucks I've turned it into a great secondary system. I spent $100 for a Garmin Bluetooth GPS receiver, so the iPad now gets great precise positioning. ...

Sea Water Wash Down & Toilet Flush
I worked up a system that gives me a pressurized wash down in the anchor locker, as well as the ability to flush the Electric toilet with sea water when desired. It only needs a single pump. I was able to rig it so there’s no chance of tainting my potable water system with seawater. If anybody’s int...

Re: fish zinc
Alternate solution is run the cable - in my case insulated wire rope - into either of the lockers next to the swim
Platform and through the areas in the bottom of the boat to the engine, and just clip it there.
The locker lid will still latch just fine.
Easy peasy.

Re: Fresh and sea water to electric toilet
I think I’ve got the back flow problem solved It requires a little more hardware (of course) The plan is to run the raw water feeding the toilet thru its own vented vented loop. The fresh water flushing system has a vented loop that also has a solenoid connected to the Jabsco switches, that opens a ...

Fresh and sea water to electric toilet
Hi all - Need somebody to say why this may be a terrible idea. Our boat, before we owned it had the jabsco electric plumbed to the fresh water line. Great on short weekend trips. Never any smell. But not so great when we’re out for extended periods and need to be more careful about fresh water usage...

Rick - Guessing you’re knowledge of elect. is basic, so I’ll go into some detail. Apologies if I underestimated. The Line side (Supply, or put another way, power in) of the hots are, as you supposed, bussed for bringing power to the breakers. The wire feeding them is coming from the load side your b...

I have exactly the folding bench pictured, as well as the fill in cushion that goes on top of the table to make up the sleeper for sale, if you're interested. As new condition.

Schaefer Shout out was Schaefer 2100 Furling & Lower Bearing Assy
I'm leaving tomorrow on a 2 week trip of around 500nm (most of the miles over 4 days), so I decided to go ahead and replace the lower drum assembly. I called Schaefer yesterday. The part arrived via UPS Ground TODAY! 26 hours from order to delivery. They are in New Bedford MA, and I'm in NYC, but ne...

Schaefer 2100 Furling & Lower Bearing Assy
Mates - Anybody who is having a tough time furling or unfurling their genoa might want to keep reading. I was having a lot of difficulty furling my 135 genoa. I'd resorted to sometimes taking it through a winch which wasn't appealing. My first attempt to solve the problem was to re run the furling l...
