That post was made when images were stored on outside hosting services. The one I linked to is kaput. I'll take a pic next time I'm at my boat and re-post. Josh, Here's a picture of what I did. The post on the table is 2" diameter. I used a hole saw to cut the piece of teak that backs up to the...

Re: Windlass

MAXVW50012V_580x580.jpg Hello and welcome to the forum. If I'm understanding your question correctly, here's how I use the windlass on my boat: I wrap the rode clockwise around the drum (red arrow) twice and step on the windlass foot switch to raise the anchor. It's important to keep some tension o...

Re: New Installation - Mabru 12VDC Air Conditioning

That sounds like a pretty slick setup. If you ever decide you want the unit to supply the forward cabin, it shouldn't take much to accomplish. My 2005 had a 4" piece of flexible duct that runs from the galley to the forward cabin on the starboard side. It's tucked just above the edge of the lin...

Re: Anyone With A Dutchman System ?

That's what I had in mind. I'll have to examine the attachments points where the monofilament connects to the topping lift and see if it could be drilled out to accommodate the larger diameter topping lift. Great idea using the main halyard as a temporary topping lift. The other benefit of this arra...

Re: Anyone With A Dutchman System ?

There are 2 types of Dutchman systems. I have the System B where there is a continuous loop of line attached to the end of the topping lift. I was considering adapting it to be like a System A halyard style system eliminating the continuous loop where the control lines attach and instead have those ...

Re: Raw Water Pump replacement

Fred, you can also just replace the pump seals. Provided the shaft isn't scored, new lip seals should fix and water leakage problem. Here's a pretty good writeup on bearing replacement on a Johnson pump which is similar to the Sherwood. https://marinehowto.com/rebuilding-a-raw-water-pump/ The option...

Re: Leaking PYI shaft waterer inlet valve

Dave, I'll take a shot at this since no one else has weighed in. My PSS hose comes from a T in the engine raw water intake hose. I'm a bit surprised yours has a dedicated thru hull. It seems to me that if the thru hull is working properly there shouldn't be water exiting it if the valve is closed. D...

Re: What is this pump in my raw water intake hose?

A couple of thoughts come to mind. Does your commode use fresh water or sea water for flushing? If fresh water then maybe the previous owner used the raw water head intake thru hull as a source for a washdown pump. If you don't have a washdown pump the only other scenario I can think of is that some...

Pedestal Guard Size

Does anyone know the tube diameter of our pedestal guard? I think it's 1 1/4" but am not positive.

Re: Fresh Water (Coolant) Impeller?

The image below shows the location of the raw water pump. Unfortunately the bolts that have to come off in order to inspect or replace the impeller are facing aftward. You may also have to loosen one or both hose clamps in order to work on the pump. If any of the vanes on the impeller are missing th...

Re: Anyone With A Dutchman System ?

Thanks for the feedback on the Dutchman. Since the topping lift line is larger in diameter than the continuous topping lift loop, is there any problem securing the 2 clamps to the topping lift?

Anyone With A Dutchman System ?

My non-furling main came with a Dutchman sail flaking system. I'm replacing some of my running rigging and am considering going from the Dutchman continuous loop system to a single line. Prior to putting my sail cover on, I usually release the topping lift and pull the Dutchman control lines down al...

It just occurred to me that your question may be referring to your air conditioning system and my suggestions only apply to the refrigerator. I failed to notice your post was in the Air Conditioning Forum.

Re: Refrigerator pump motor replacement.

Although anything is possible, the BD50 compressors that come on Adler Barbour units rarely fail. If the cooling fan has failed, the compressor will shut down if the temperature gets too high. The fan is easily replaced and readily available. Look at the cover of the printed circuit board shown in t...

Re: Idle RPM Vibration

Chris, I had a somewhat similar problem with engine vibration a couple of years ago. It turned out that one of the nuts on the top of a motor mount had vibrated loose. Tightening it solved the problem. It's not a bad idea to put some nail polish above each of the 4 top motor mount nuts to verify tha...

If your coat hanger fix doesn’t work, try a can of compressed air like the stuff you buy at office supply stores.
