Does anyone know where I could get a working Raymarine ST60 Tridata display? This is the display head for depth, speed and log.
Thanks to all!

Re: Coolant Level Question
Mr. van Wagoner - when you replaced the plastic tee at the water heater with bronze, did you lose antifreeze when you took it apart? Were you able to do that work from above the water heater, or did you have to cram yourself into the starboard transom locker? Fellow owners will see a number of posts...

Re: Outhaul line length
Over ten summers of use, the outhaul tail remaining after rolling the mainsail into the mast has gotten shorter, so that now I only have about a foot left. First, that means I have to pull it out by hand a bit before it will even reach the winch, and 2) I am concerned that further use will result in...

Re: Winterizing
It gets cold enough in the Chesapeake that the thought of not using non-tox in the potable water system would scare me. It just takes a little water in a valve or a low spot in the system that didn't drain to cause problems. While it is true that purging all the pink stuff out of the system is a pai...

Re: Coolant Level Question
I read with interest Brett's comment about the hose running from the manifold to the expansion tank. Original equipment is a clear tube, and mine looked dubious, so I replaced it at the beginning of the 2011 season. The Westerbeke part #24637 I ordered and received is, like the original part, a clea...

Re: Coolant Level Question
Now that Second Wind is floating again, I started working on my coolant level issues. First, I mopped up a winter's accumulation of Dex-Cool in the engine bilge - it turned out to be about a pint, which is more than I have ever had in the 6 previous winters. I have not yet rented the pressure tester...

Re: Steaming light and deck light
Thanks, Leigh. I'll see if Hella will come through - I'm way out of warranty now. This bulletin board is searchable - in the upper right corner. Just type "Hella" and all the posts show up, including the one with Hella's customer service 877 number.

Re: Steaming light and deck light
Does anybody know if the deck light is covered by a lens (that would have to be removed before changing the bulb)? There's no lens/cover on mine, but I don't know if that is by design or because the lens fell out.

Re: Coolant Level Question
Ken, I just bought a new radiator cap - Universal Westerbeke part 298854. It reads "14 LBS" on the top, so I'm betting that's the pressure rating. If yours gives up at 8 LBS, that sounds like it isn't doing the job any more. I plan to rent a pressure tester from Auto Zone once the boat is ...

Re: Coolant Level Question
Thanks for the info, Ken, about Auto Zone and pressure testers. Will the device come with instructions? I have never used such a thing, so if anyone knows how to use it, guidance would be much appreciated. Has anyone else experienced air in the overflow tube as I described above? A solution would be...

Re: Coolant Level Question
It seems this problem is universal (ha!) to our boats. Most summers, I don't find antifreeze in the engine bilge, but I always do in the winter. My dealer thinks this is about pump seals in the winter and is just a fact of life. Like some of you, I found that the overflow hose to the reservoir didn'...

Re: Micron Rating for Water Separator
Racor has come out with a new device - a "T Handle Vacuum Indicator Kit" part RK 32348. It replaces the T handle on top of the Racor unit with a T handle topped off with a gauge. It seems like a perfect addition, giving an easy indication of the filter's status, but it adds 3.8" to th...

Re: Micron Rating for Water Separator
Thanks - I knew about the primary and secondary filters (Racor and Westerbeke threaded on) but I'm asking now about a third filter - apparently in line, by the lift pump.

Re: Micron Rating for Water Separator
The technical guy at my dealer recommends using a 30 micron Racor element, rather than the 10 micron element. He suggests that I change all three filters - Racor, Westerbeke and the inline filter by the lift pump - at the same time, so I get the bleeding process out of the way all at once. I was not...

Re: Milky oil
Brett, since your post back in October, I have had the siphon break work done per Catalina's instructions, also raising the muffler and inserting the thumb screw drain plug in the muffler. Unfortunately, I had dumped the drained engine oil in the recycling barrel before I saw your suggestion about g...

Re: Milky oil
Brett, thanks for replying so quickly. Answers - no, I have never had to crank the engine for long periods of time, at least not near the 30 seconds the manual warns about. And I have not had the siphon break upgrade work done, though I have the box of parts Catalina sent. My dealer did not believe ...

Milky oil
We change the oil on Second Wind, hull 301, every fall, just before hauling it out for the winter, so that there is fresh, clean oil in the engine all winter. This year, the oil we pulled out was a little milky. This happened to us after changing the oil at the end of our first year (2005), but in s...

Re: Micron Rating for Water Separator
Brett, did you ever hear back from Joe Joyce at Westerbeke, for an explanation of his choice of fuel filters?

Chair tips for stern ladder
Has anyone come across chair tips or similar to use on the stern ladder stand-offs that actually last a season? Mine dry out and crack (maybe UV deterioration) in 2-3 months! Don't really know which topic heading fits this one best . . .

Re: Micron Rating for Water Separator
Joe Joyce's email is JJoyce@westerbeke.com. Perhaps he has an explanation. But have you confirmed that the engine-mounted filter is in fact 10 microns? I get confused by the "primary/secondary" terminology - which filter is primary and which is secondary?
