Re: Scanstrut radar mount on mast.
If you are mounting the radar for the first time, I would consider a swivel mount on the backstay. I have a Questes. It installed fairly easily, however there is a slight modification to the mounting pole required. Being closer to the deck allows for maintenance more easily

Re: Another Tachometer Problem
I have has some problems with the tachometer similar to what you are experiencing. I removed the panel, sprayed the trim pot on the back with contact cleaner and moved it back and forth to remove the corrosion. I then returned he pot to its original position (you can tell from the wax seal). About o...

Companion Way Steps Touch Up
I am usually pretty diligent about touching up my companionway steps to repair the wear they receive. This year I got behind and as luck would have it, I had some rain fall on them and discovered there were some thin spots in my varnish which led to water spotting. After the boat was pulled, I remov...

Re: Damper Replacement
With regard to Jerry's posting, specifically pictures 8 and 9, I am having a hard time picking the damper plate out of the picture. Am I missing something? Isn't the plate secured with allen head screws? Also for us seniors - How much does the trans weigh? Can I easily lift it by myself ? Thanks in ...

Garhauer Outboard Motor Hoist
I have purchased an installed - port side adjacent to boarding ladder (Hull #265)
It works well however, have not been able to use it while the bimini is up. Some postings had indicated they had been able to use it with bimini.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Water in the Bilge While on the Hard
I went to my boat to check up on it one cold New England day last week and found the bilge frozen (in the "front" only). The section of the bilge at the pump was frozen solid, the back two compartments (switch and behind) was slushy purple. When I left the boat; It was covered bow to stern...

Replacement Parts
All,
I have noticed a difference in the spare parts that I have been buying. The parts are no longer coming in the usual Universal turquiose boxes and are no longer marked with the Universal logo and Part numbers. Has anybody else noticed the change?

Re: Changing Raw Water Impeller
Thanks for the responses I did indeed change it without removing the pump (as instructed to in the engine owners manual) It went quite easily and with no surprises I found the manual in this case to be of very little value. I will construct a letter and forward to Westerbeke. Thanks Again, Vineyards...

Re: Heat Exchanger Securing Straps on the M35B engine.
I also found both straps broken. Hull 265 with 271 engine hours. I called the distributor and he was "sure" one my engine mounts was broken. I intend to do a detailed failure analysis (I'm a mechanical engineer). I will post my opinion and will in all likleyhood follow up with the manufact...

Changing Raw Water Impeller
Can anyone tell me whether you have to remove the pump from the engine to change the impeller. From the (vague and confusing) instructions, it would appear to me that you can simply remove the pump cover and replace the impeller. I have the impeller kit but it does not contain the pump to engine gas...
